Baptism Request

The Meaning of Baptism

Baptism is a sacred ritual that holds significant spiritual and religious importance. It is a way of acknowledging and accepting God's gift of grace, love, and hope in our lives. We are initiated and incorporated through baptism into the community of believers, the body of Christ, the Church. The ceremony involves immersing or sprinkling water over the head of the person, symbolizing a purification of the soul and a new beginning in Christ.

Baptism reminds us of our commitment to lead a righteous and devout life, free from sin and impurities. Every time we wash our hands, take a bath, or even brush our teeth, we are reminded of the significance of baptism and the cleansing power of water. It is a personal cleansing and a symbol of unity and belonging to a larger community of believers.

As we remember our baptism, we must also acknowledge the gift of water and the Holy Spirit in our lives and worldwide. It reminds us of our responsibility as believers to spread the message of love, peace, and hope to all those around us.

Here are the steps...

1. Fill out the online form.

2. The pastor will contact you to confirm the date.

3. Attend a baptismal session before the baptism date.

Who should be baptized?

At Mt. Olive, we welcome people of all ages to receive the sacrament of baptism. Whether you're an adult seeking baptism for the first time or a parent wishing to baptize your child, we are here to support and guide you through the process.

We also encourage non-members to consider seeking membership after being baptized, as it is a wonderful way to deepen your connection to the church community and continue your spiritual journey in the company of like-minded individuals.

The United Methodist Church acknowledges the validity of baptisms performed in other faiths and churches and does not administer re-baptism. However, the church encourages individuals to attend a special baptism worship service to remember their previous baptisms.

When do baptisms occur?

During the baptismal rite, we use the Holy Water to symbolize the cleansing power of God's grace and make the sign of the cross on the forehead with anointing oil to signify the presence of the Holy Spirit on select Sundays throughout the year.

How should I schedule a baptism?
